Leading on from our Closing Gala: In Conversation with Sabiha Sumar  hosted by Suzi Mann audiences are welcomed to join us in the final chapter of the 2017 London Asian Film Festival at our prestigious awards ceremony at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly. suzi mann

Suzi has presented a variety of shows on various commercial radio stations, the UK’s leading, weekly Bollywood programmes on ITN, Bollywood Insider – and hosted numerous stage events with A-list celebrities. Suzi gained recognition for her contribution to the Media industry at last years British Indian Awards, where she was awarded Best in Media 2016.

LAFF is honoured to have the presence of Pakistani director Sabiha Sumar and British Asian director Gurinder Chadha who will be joining guests for this special occasion.

DSC_7422The evening will commence with the screening of five selected Digital Commissions that have been submitted by emerging artists who have collaborated with digital filmmakers to create new digital art based upon the theme of ‘Memories Beyond Borders’ for LAFF 2017.

The annual Mastercard London Asian Film Festival Awards will commemorate talent from this year’s festival as their work is recognised and contribution to this year’s festival edition is celebrated. Awards that will be presented include ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Standout Performances’ to name a few.  The ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ will be awarded to an individual who has dedicated their life to contributing to South Asian cinema. 8. London Asian Film Festival present A Tribute to Om Puri following his death/demise earlier this year and will be presented by director Gurinder Chadha. Leaving behind a legacy of critically acclaimed performances across Indian cinema, Hollywood and British film, Om Puri was well known for his role in British title East is East.

To conclude the evening, a 3 course silver service dinner of Indian cuisine will be served, with selected drinks included and will take place downstairs in the David Lean room.

 

An unmissable event, full of special guests, glamourous awards and a delicious 3 course dinner that will celebrate and wrap up the London Asian Film Festival’s 19th edition.
