SODA Future of Storytelling Event

Tongues On Fire’s Saz Vora was invited to participate in the first event hosted by the School of Digital Art (SODA). The event marked the launch of SODA and it being the North’s creative hub for media production, film, sound, photography, animation, AI and games design.

The event was aimed at industry professionals to discuss the future of storytelling and the opportunities opened up by advances in new production techniques, distribution platforms and replay devices and how they impacted writers’ producers and the audience.

Event host Penny Macbeth, Dean of Manchester School of Art introduced the event and keynote speaker Danny Boyle, Director and Screenwriter set the scene with “Will Robots Love Jesus?” This opened our mind to the changing world we now live in and how AI has infiltrated our lives with Google, Amazon and social media platforms.

The panel discussion chaired by Jason Wood consisted of panellist Danny Boyle, Saz Vora, Stefani Bardin, Rose Kay and Nichola Shindler and focused on how creators, producers and education providers can harness the changing world of digital to develop and encourage new forms of storytelling.
