Tongues on Fire Celebrates South Asian Cinema at Wembley Park

From 5 June until 7 July 2019 Tongues on Fire presented a specially curated film season at Wembley Park, North West London - to celebrate South Asian Cinema. Members of the public enjoyed the free outdoor screenings from deck chair seating in Arena Square, set against the dramatic backdrop of The SSE Arena, Wembley. Here are a selection of pictures taken at the six screenings and live performances that took place during this busy summer programme of events at Wembley Park.

Wed 5 June: Karwaan screening with Bollywood Dance workshop by Sole Beats.

Wed 12 June: Singer Rowshanara Moni performing prior to the screening of Hamid, our opening gala film at this year's UK Asian Film Festival.

Wed 19 June: Screening of sublime Tamil film KD which included a dance performance by Jeya Raveendran's Dance Academy.

Wed 26 June: The screening of heart-warming film Dhh opened with a children's magic show.

Wed 3 July: The UK Asian Film Festival & Queen Mary University documentary Movies, Memories, Magic, presented by the contributors and director Dr. Ashvin Immanuel Devasundaram.

Sun 7 July: The final screening for Tongues on Fire's Wembley Park summer film season was Sangeeta Datta's Life Goes On - attended by the director and cast, including internationally renowned actress Sharmila Tagore.
