The Beatles and India
Directors: Ajay Bose & Peter Compton
UK, 2021, 92 mins, English with English subtitles
India and The Beatles aren’t necessarily two things you’d immediately associate with each other. Enter this fascinating documentary which explores how India shaped the evolution of the greatest rock band of all time. Between rare archival footage, photographs and eye-witness accounts, the film is a charming chronicle of the journeys of George, John, Paul and Ringo from their high octane celebrity lives in the West to a remote Himalayan ashram in search of spirituality. An experience which is said to have inspired some of their greatest work.
