Short Film Competition Call for Submissions

Tongues on Fire’s prestigious Short Film Competition returns in 2020 for the 22nd annual UK Asian Film Festival. We are currently looking for budding filmmakers to submit their short films with a South Asian connection on this years theme, Uprooted.

The UK Asian Film Festival Short Film Competition has been established since 2005. The short film competition and screening are just one element of the week long schedule of events devised to showcase and support the South Asian Independent Film and Arts, and this is your chance to get your film into the UK Asian Film Festival and be part of the vibrant programme!

Criteria

The short film competition is open to all, but the eligibility criteria are;-
The producers of the film i.e actors/director must be South Asian or have a South Asian connection. (South Asia -India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal).

The film should be no longer than 10 minutes.

We are seeking entries from film-makers on this year’s theme of Uprooted.

Uprooted as defined by Oxford English Dictionary can be one of the following:

Move from their home or a familiar location
Example migration.

Or

‘Remove or destroy completely; eradicate.’
Example a new social order or identity.

You can interpret it as you wish.

Your film will be assessed on narrative structure, cinematography and post-production techniques.

The short film must adhere to the theme and can belong to the following categories: Fiction, Documentary or Experimental

So if you have a story to tell, we want to see it!
