Lipstick Under My Burkha

Back by popular demand, Alankrita Shrivastava’s film was initially denied a release in India on its release but was a hit at UKAFF.

Looking at the secret lives of Usha, Shireen Rehana and Leela, four women who all live in the same neighbourhood in Bhopal and are all in search of freedom.

Contending with a patriarchal society where money, clothes and sex are all used as a weapon of repression, the film shows the small acts of courage the women take to claim their desires.
