Mystic Mela: Welcome Session

Mystic Mela: A day of activities and film screenings at the Beck Theatre brought to you by the UK Asian Film Festival

Join us for a celebration that blends spiritual heritage with contemporary cultural expression. The Mela offers a unique and immersive experience that not only celebrates our rich cultural heritage but also engages a diverse audience.

It will be a celebration of culture and cinema. There will be yoga and breathwork workshops, food stalls, traditional stalls, kite flying and storytelling workshops, music, artifacts free for people to be a part of.

Join us for a dynamic and enriching day at the UK Asian Film Festival, where film, culture, and community come together in a vibrant celebration. The event opens with a traditional ceremony setting the stage for an inspiring lineup of films, discussions and artistic performances.

Included in the Welcome Session will be two short film screenings

Paighaam – In a vibrant, whimsical world where nature flourishes and colours burst with life, a young girl discovers a divine connection with Mother Nature. Playing amidst blooming flowers and dancing amongst trees, she interacts with nature and animals to convey the message of one religion – humanity.

Chalo India with Eric Ji – This pilot episode will be the first of a 12-part series exploring the many different parts of India which we believe will demonstrate the nature and variety of India’s past and present together with the vibrancy of it’s huge and diverse population. The highlight of this program is Eric’s visit to Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. The Maha Kumbh Mela is a grand assembly of rituals, with the bathing ceremony reigning supreme as the most significant of them all. The screening will be accompanied by a thought-provoking Q&A.
