The Umesh Chronicles

This epic yet intimate coming-of-age portrait of a young woman in middle-class India during the 1980s captures a society in a state of tumultuous change. As a daughter in a military family, Radha has limited contact with the outside world. Compensating this by immersing herself in books, her life lightens up when she encounters Sundar. It’s a friendship that will have a radical impact over the years. The Umesh Chronicles is a beautifully detailed map of the past and that offers a hopeful sketch for the future.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Pooja Kaul.
